The Tarn, dept 81, Midi-Pyrenees, France

Blazon Tarn 81A short introduction.

The Tarn countryside is lovely; unspoiled and diverse, catering for all tastes. The region with its rich history, varied landscapes, Gaillac wines and gastronomy, although easily accessible with flights from Toulouse international airport, Carcassonne airport and Rodez airport,  is an area that remains authentic and still offers the true French way of living.

It is a region with a rich history illustrated by its medieval towns and villages, cathedrals and museums. The beauty of its towns of pink brick or white stone, the diversity of its countryside, the friendliness of the inhabitants, its gastronomy; foie-gras, confit de canard, hams, cheeses, cassoulet, pink garlic and excellent local wines, the Tarn represents well, life in SW France.

Tarn is a department of 5,758km2 in the Midi-Pyrénées, south west France. It was formed in 1790 of the three dioceses of Albi, Castres and Lavaur, belonging to the province of Languedoc.
